Following last night's friendly at Rusthall, first team boss Martin Larkin was delighted to secure the signings of defender Tom Bryant and forward Danny Powell (who marked the night scoring the first goal). In addition goalkeeper Stephen Lawrence has opted to stay at Culverden for the coming year.
Joining The Wells from Kent County League side Hildenborough Athletic, Powell came through the youth ranks at Tonbridge Angels before having a brief spell with The Wells back in 2009 in which he played twice, scoring once for the club. He's also had spells with Erith & Belvedere and East Grinstead.
"Danny is regarded as one of the best local lads who hasn’t played at a high enough level for his talent, and he showed last night with his work rate and ability that he is going to be a huge crowd favourite at Culverden," Larkin told www.tunbridgewellsfc.com. "We have wanted him here every year I have been in charge, and to finally have him fit and ready to go is a massive boost!"
Bryant, meanwhile, started life on the books with Gillingham and more recently has enjoyed a successful few years at Herne Bay, featuring in an FA Vase Semi-Final and winning the Kent League with the Winch's Field outfit - subsequently racking up Ryman League experience.
"Tom adds a league-winning mentality along with a huge amount of ability to the changing room, he slotted in last night having not met anyone previously as though he had been with us for years, so we are excited to see how he develops with us," Larkin concluded.
