Season 2014/15 - Opening Fixtures Reaction

Season 2014/15 kicks off with an away game at Cray Valley PM on August 9th, breaking a long run of years in which the campaign has kicked off at Culverden. Lingfield – newly transferred from the Sussex Countly League – will provide the opposition for The Wells’ first home game on Tuesday, August 12th.

“That’s a tough start,” first team manager Martin Larkin told www.tunbridgewellsfc.com. “Cray Valley are putting together a strong side, we’re lead to believe, and Lingfield will be somewhat of an unknown, although we have had them watched already. We will do again before August 12, which should take that excuse out of the equation.”

The FA Cup takes precedence the following Saturday with The Wells visiting Holmesdale in the FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round, before the first of two August derbies sees Tunbridge Wells visit Sevenoaks Town on Wednesday, August 20th. Woodstock Sports visit Culverden on Saturday, August 23rd before the second local derby takes place on Bank Holiday Monday and The Wells visit Crowborough for a first ever competitive match on their ground on August 25th.

“Two derbies in the first month is all very exciting,” enthused Larkin as he seeks to gear-up the pre-season campaign in readiness for the big kick-off.
