The Wells got off to a winning start for Richard Styles’s first competitive game in charge with a wonderful away win at Sheppey Utd.
Josh Biddlecombe missed the opportunity to open the scoring for The Wells from the penalty spot on 30mins when his spot kick was well saved by Sheppey keeper Aaron Lee Wharton.
Biddlecombe made amends for his miss 5mins into the second half when he headed home Euan Sahadow cross.
The Wells had to defend stubbornly and can thank both Chris Lawal and Tommy Taylor in The Wells goal for keeping the Ites at bay until 80mins when Billy Bennett’s screamer looked to have secured a point for the home side.
The Wells grabbed a deserved 3pts when Danny Powell broke with pace and squared the ball to George Blake to rifle home on 89mins.
The Wells return to The Culverden for the first time this season when they host Pagham in the FA Cup extra preliminary round.
