HOLLANDS & BLAIR 1-3 THE WELLS

After a weather induced 21 day hiatus, The Wells returned to league action away at Hollands and Blair.

The Blair began the day sitting 5th in the table one place above The Wells.

A blustery afternoon saw The Wells use the wind and downhill slope on the Star Meadow sports ground pitch in the first half to good effect.

Wells captain Freeman Rogers gave The Wells an 8th minute lead when he reacted quickest to strike home a rebound from Jason Thompson’s free kick.

Winger Josh Froggatt wasted a golden opportunity to double The Wells lead but blazed over from close range after excellent build up play by the visitors.

The Wells had claims for a penalty turned away when a Blair defender looked to have handled on the line to prevent a Wells goal. Before Blair forward Stuart West was sent to the sin bin for dissent.

Chris Lawal doubled The Wells lead with a 35 yard free kick as The Blair’s physical tactics back fired on them on the stroke of half time.

The Blair pulled a goal back almost straight from the restart when Connor Hefferman took advantage of a spilled ball and netted.

Euan Sahadow restored The Wells 2 goal lead when he curled in from an acute angle on 74mins.

Blair were reduced to ten men on 75mins when midfielder Ben Brown received his second yellow of the afternoon when he brought down George Blake.

The Wells had chances to add to their tally but found Blair keeper Adam Highstead in good form to keep the score line down.

The win sees The Wells leap frog Blair into 5th on 43pts from 21 games.

RICHARD STYLES REACTION - Can’t speak highly enough of the performance, discipline and commitment levels shown by the Tunbridge Wells boys today, coming away with all 3 points away at a tough place to go. The performances from the boys was top draw after nearly 3 weeks without a game.
